Royal Enfield is gearing up for the launch of the new Himalayan 450 slated to take place on November 7. Not only will the bike go on sale in India, the latest iteration of the adventure bike will also be displayed to the world at the upcoming edition of EICMA in Milan, Italy on the same day.
The launch of Himalayan 450 has cast doubts over the future of the Himalayan 411 which has garnered so much appreciation from adventure riders all across the globe. Reports strongly suggest that post the launch of Himalayan 450, the Chennai-based bikemaker will take the existing Himalayan 411 off the shelves.
First launched in 2016, the Himalayan 411 became an instant success for adventure seekers for its impeccable touring and off-road capabilities. Sadly, it seems that the old Himalayan will be discontinued when the new Himalayan 450 hits roads.
While the old Himalayan 411 was an enormous success in the market, it had several issues plaguing the ride experience. Throughout its lifespan, the Himalayan 411 has undergone several updates to make itself a better version than the previous model. But the company will find it difficult to continue production of the old Himalayan alongside the new Himalayan.
The new Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 is powered by a 451.65cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, slightly larger than the outgoing 411cc unit. It produces 40 bhp at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 40 Nm at 5,500 rpm. This motor is paired with a 6-speed gearbox via a slip-and-assist clutch. There are two ride modes on offer– Performance and Eco.
Moreover, the Himalayan 450 is based on an all-new twin-spar frame that sits on upside-down front forks and an adjustable monoshock at the rear sourced from Showa. It gets 320mm front and 270mm rear disc brakes aided by dual-channel ABS with a switchable rear ABS.
