Former South Africa and Royal Challengers Bangalore player AB de Villiers is excited to see Hardik Pandya moving back to Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans. He feels Hardik has done enough at GT, and it’s time for him to head back to his previous franchise ahead of IPL 2024.
MI will pay INR 15 crore to Titans for Hardik, who was with the five-time champions for 7 seasons. The all-rounder was a part of four title-winning campaigns.
Gujarat signed Pandya for INR 15 crore after he was released by MI ahead of the mega auction in 2022.
He led them to the IPl title in 2022 and the final in the next edition.
“It is a big and exciting news. Hardik thought his time was over at GT, having won the title in their maiden season. He likes to play at the Wankhede Stadium and was there for several years,” AB de Villiers said.
ABD also predicted that Hardik will lead Mumbai, considering Rohit Sharma’s workload as Team India’s captain.
“Rohit is carrying a lot of weight as far as captaincy is concerned. He leads India in international cricket, and I feel Hatdik will take up the leadership role at MI to ease some pressure from Rohit’s shoulders,” he added.
