Winterpause: Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer on club’s winter break plans – Bavarian Football Works

No trip abroad this year as the Bavarians prepare to gear up for the Rückrunde.
As last weekend’s Bavarian snowstorm melts away, Bayern Munich is looking ahead to its plans for this season’s Winterpause.
Unlike many previous years, Bayern will not be traveling abroad for a warm-weather training camp. According to club president Herbert Hainer, it is a decision less about penny-pinching than about optimal planning.
“No [it was not an economic decision], it mainly had to do with the fact that we don’t have much time this winter break,” Hainer said recently on Bild TV (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “The first game against Hoffenheim will be on 12 January, so we only have 10 days to prepare. That’s why we decided to stay and train in Munich.”
Last season’s winter break was dire for the Rekordmeister. Germany crashed out early at the World Cup, France lost a heartbreaker in the Final, Manuel Neuer broke a leg, and an abbreviated return schedule resulted in a slow start to the Rückrunde — ultimately ending in Julian Nagelsmann’s sacking in March.
This year, Bayern and Thomas Tuchel will hope to organize the schedule better for a strong finish.
