Kane is finally able to enjoy the benefits of non-English football breaking for the holidays.
Bayern Munich has gained a positive run of momentum following their 5-1 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt by virtue of three wins on the bounce against Manchester United, VfB Stuttgart and VfL Wolfsburg. Unfortunately for them, Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen side have not skipped a beat and are still at the top of the Bundesliga table, and Bayern will now have to wait until the Rückrunde to catch them out.
Harry Kane has been the star man for Bayern, having netted a thoroughly impressive 25 goals across all competitions thus far, adding eight assists. 21 of those goals have come in the Bundesliga and the England skipper became the quickest player to reach that tally with his wonder strike in the 2-1 win at Wolfsburg. As it stands, Kane is one goal better off than Robert Lewandowski was at this stage of the season when he scored 41 goals in one season, which is the current Bundesliga tally record for one, single season.
Along with the rest of the Bayern squad and the rest of the Bundesliga, it is now time for some well-deserved rest and regeneration during the festive period. For Kane, this is something totally new having been used to the exact opposite in the English Premier League where the schedule ramps up in and around the winter holidays.
All things considered, especially having to move to a different country and find a home to eventually settle his family into, Kane is very much looking forward to putting his feet up for a bit during the winter-pause. “I can’t wait [for the brief time off]. I’m really looking forward to it. It’s been tough here without the family for these four months, without the kids and without the wife. It’s just about spending some time with them, some quality time. When we get back everyone will move to Germany, which will be nice as well. We’re going somewhere hot, so we’ll spend 10 days and just enjoy that time,. I’m going to text all my mates in England a picture of me on the beach somewhere,” Bayern’s number 9 and talisman explained to BBC Sport recently (via @iMiaSanMia).
Of course, Kane is very much used to the routine of Boxing Day matches and Christmas training sessions from his time with Tottenham, so it will certainly be a change of pace and offer a window of opportunity to rest the body and mind. He has often said he is still a massive Tottenham supporter, so he will more than likely be taking in their festive period matches from a restful spot.
