Kim Min-jae talks through the highs and lows of getting that elusive first goal at Bayern Munich – Bavarian Football Works

The big fella made the most of his opportunity.
Bayern Munich center-back Kim Min-jae experienced a tug o’ war of emotions against VfB Stuttgart during his team’s 3-0 victory over VfB Stuttgart last weekend.
First, the Korean defender thought he had scored his first goal for Bayern Munich (sheet joy!)…only to find out VAR took the score away (sheer agony!) in the 25th minute. The big center-back would get some redemption, though as he eventually did get that elusive first goal in the 63rd minute.
For Min-jae, it was a relief to see the ball go into the net.
“I’ve been waiting for a long time to score my first goal for Bayern. That’s also my job as a defender. When a defender scores goals, it becomes much easier for the whole team. I actually wanted to score much earlier. I’m happy that it finally worked out,” Min-jae told t-onlne’s Julian Buhl. “I was very excited and then very sad. I was a bit worried that it might be considered an own goal.”
Min-jae will have to use the next few days to really get some rest. With international duty awaiting him in January, things are going to be very busy for the 27-year-old.
