Jamal Musiala admires Bayern Munich’s progression under Thomas Tuchel’s leadership – Bavarian Football Works

Filed under:
Musiala is very much a fan of the input Tuchel and his coaching staff is able to bring to the squad.
The timing of Bayern Munich’s decision to sack Julian Nagelsmann last season and replace him with Thomas Tuchel did not to anything to help the latter’s standing in his early days at the club, but his first quarter of a season at the helm at Bayern was not covered in glory. Borussia Dortmund’s slip-ups largely aided Bayern being able to win the Bundesliga on the final day of the season, but Tuchel’s first full season in charge of the Rekordmeister has arguably gone far better than the latter stages of last season.
Only one loss in the Bundesliga and the shock loss at FC Saarbrücken in the second round of the DFB-Pokal separate Tuchel from having glowing reviews from the hinrunde. Not to mention, Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen side have been impeccably good and are more than deserving of leading the Bundesliga table during the festive holiday period. Bayern could be ahead of them had it not been for Jonas Hofmann drawing a late, late penalty in the 2-2 draw earlier this season at the Allianz Arena.
Amongst Bayern’s fan base, opinions still might be a bit split on Tuchel’s overall standing at the club, but internally, there seems to be a harmonious balance between the 2021 Champions League winner and the majority of the squad. For one, Jamal Musiala recently spoke about how much he has personally been enjoying life under the former Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, and Mainz boss.
“I’m getting great input from Thomas and his staff. He works in detail and gives me many tips on how I can improve. The development of the team [under Tuchel] is very good and I’m enjoying working with the coaching staff. Personally I can still develop and improve my passing game and decision making,” Musiala lauded to az’s Maximilian Koch (via @iMiaSanMia).
For Bayern’s number 42, it has been a bit touch and go with his injuries so far this season, but he has still managed to tally five goals and three assists from a total of 16 appearances across all competitions. Three of said goals have come from his last five matches in the Bundesliga, which is a period that stretches back to the end of October, the most recent of which was his headed goal in the 2-1 win over VfL Wolfsburg on the final match day of the Hinrunde.
