Paris Saint-Germain announces the signing of Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte for the next five seasons.
Ugarte, 22 years old, joins from Sporting Portugal, where he has played for the past two seasons.
The PSG statement did not specify whether they have paid the $65 million release clause set by the Portuguese club or if a lower amount has been negotiated.
Ugarte expressed in the statement that he is “very happy to be able to join this great team” and stated, “I will give everything for Paris Saint-Germain.”
The player arrived in Portugal in early 2021 to play for Famalicao but made the leap to a big Portuguese club, Sporting, in August. Since then, Ugarte has established himself to the point of making his debut for the Uruguayan national team in September 2021.
Ugarte’s arrival adds to the signings of Slovak defender Milan Skriniar and Spanish forward Marco Asensio, which were announced by the Parisian team yesterday.
