The 29-man squad announced by PSG for their pre-season tour to Japan created all the buzz because of one prominent name missing from the list. The name of French star Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe’s exit from PSG has long been the center of speculation. Before he was snubbed from the squad, Mbappe was offered a record €1bn for a 10-year contract to stay at PSG. If accepted, the deal would have become the most expensive sports contract in history. However, with this snub, it is more than likely that Mbappe’s days at PSG are numbered as he will likely join Real Madrid.
However, one name in the squad caught the readers eye. The name of Ethan Mbappe.
Ethan Mbappe is Kylian Mbappe’s own brother, he is 8 years younger to him and is 16 years old.
The younger Mbappe joined PSG around the same time his older brother joined the Parisians. While Kylian played for the senior team, Ethan joined their youth program to work on his game. He worked his way up to their academies and made his debut with then senior team as a 15-year-old in a club friendly against Ligue 2 side Paris FC.
Ethan Mbappe plays as a central midfielder. With the speculation around his brother leaving, Ethan signed a contract with PSG in 2012, tying him to the club till 2024.
It seems that Ethan Mbappe may continue to be with PSG, and with Kylian keen to honour his contract at Paris and stay for one more year, it is possible that we might see both the Mbappe brothers on the pitch together.
Another fun trivia fact is that Ethan is credited with coming up with Kylian Mbappe’s iconic folded hand celebration. He came up with the celebration during a PlayStation game against his brother.
