Xavi Simons is on the verge of joining PSG after the French champions have reportedly agreed to trigger his buy-back clause.
In case Kylian Mbappe or Neymar choose to leave Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the near future, the club has reportedly opted to re-sign PSV Eindhoven player Xavi Simons.
In the recent past, the Parisians were considering triggering Simons’ £5.1 million buyback provision. However, because the Dutchman was in charge of the choice, they were unable to make the player’s return public.
Fabrizio Romano, a renowned transfer specialist, now claims that Simons has departed the camp of his present team in order to rejoin PSG this summer.
Should either Neymar or Mbappe complete a move away from the Parc des Princes, the Dutchman is expected to play for Luis Enrique’s team in the upcoming campaign.
However, Simons will be loaned out to a different club for continuous first-team experience if both of the Parisian superstars opt to stay this summer.
Simons, who can play as a winger or as a number 10, left PSG last summer and joined PSV on a free transfer. In 48 total games during the 2022–23 season, the 20-year-old scored 22 goals and added 12 assists, helping his team win two trophies.
Since the beginning of last summer, Neymar’s departure from the Parisians has been widely rumoured. He contributed 35 goals in 29 appearances last season, but he has reportedly lost the respect of his clubs’ management, and a transfer to Chelsea has been suggested.
On the other hand, Mbappe has become a problem for PSG because he stated just recently that he made the choice not to renew his present deal in 2024.
The Ligue 1 giants could lose their star for free. To avoid that, they plan to sell Mbappe in the summer and make some money for some new recruits.
