Yamaha is all set to showcase its electric mobility prowess at the upcoming Japan Mobility Show scheduled to be held between 26 October and 5 November, 2023 in Tokyo. The company has already released the list of concepts it will showcase at the event which includes the interesting-looking E-FV mini race bike, besides other concepts like self-driving and hydrogen-powered vehicles.
The E-FV mini race bike concept looks tiny, obviously, with a short wheelbase and a small stance. However, it does sport a fairly tall windscreen, side fairing with the ‘E-FV’ badge in large font size, a fuel tank-like panel bolted onto the chassis, and an upswept tail accommodating a flat and thin seat. Typical of race bikes, it also boasts slick rubbers wrapped around its small alloy wheels and clip-on handlebars.
A volunteer team of young engineers has developed the E-FV as a fun side project. It is meant for young aspiring racers looking for an easy-to-ride machine to train on. Interestingly, the E-FV concept uses the same power unit as Yamaha’s TY-E 2.0 electric trials bike which competed in the All Japan Trial Championship last year. Interestingly, the mini race concept is deprived of a gearbox and clutch with the aim to enhance the ease of riding it. What’s more, it also incorporates speakers which emit faux exhaust sounds mimicking ICE race bikes.
Yamaha is yet to reveal the plans related to the E-FV mini race bike concept. However, we expect that the Japanese bike maker will roll out its production model at a later stage and also host a one-make racing championship with the same.
