Royal Enfield has been spotted testing the Himalayan 450 for months now on Indian as well as foreign soil. The test mules have been evolving into their close-to-production- state revealing plenty of details about the upcoming dual-purpose adventure tourer. Now, the production-ready Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has been caught on camera abroad.
This indicates that the global debut of the adv could happen soon ahead of its market launch. The undisguised test mule shows the presence of a design language similar to the existing Himalayan 411 but evolved and more muscular in a lot of ways. The circular LED headlamp, a tall transparent windscreen, the signature front beak, and sleek LED turn indicators can be clearly seen.
In addition, a pronounced fuel tank that should be larger than the unit in the Himalayan 411, split seat setup, a compact tail section with LED tail lamp, upright handlebar position, middle set footpegs, spoked 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, front and rear disc brakes assisted by a dual-channel ABS system, upside down front forks and a monoshock rear suspension are other highlights.
The prototype was also fitted with a top box which will be available as an option while the fuel tank is shrouded by metal braces as in the Himalayan 411 as well. As for the performance, an all-new 450 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine will be utilised. It will be good enough to produce a maximum power output of 40 bhp and 45 Nm of peak torque.
A slipper and assist clutch could be offered as standard while previous spy images clearly showed the presence of a new single-pod all-digital instrument cluster. You could also see block pattern tyres and a saree guard while the exhaust system is mounted on the right-hand side. The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is expected to be lighter than the Himalayan 411 and Scram 411.
It will likely sit on a brand new platform and will be positioned above the aforementioned duo to rival directly against KTM 390 Adventure and BMW G310 GS. Expect the starting price to hover around Rs. 2.75 lakh (ex-showroom).
