Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 globally unveiled at EICMA 2023 – BikeWale

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has finally made its global debut after being teased for a while. The motorcycle was showcased at the EICMA 2023 along with the brand’s first electric mobility unveil- the Himalayan Electric.
Now, the entire bike is a step up from the soon-to-be-discontinued Himalayan 411 in almost every aspect. To begin with, it comes with a 450cc, single-cylinder engine with liquid-cooling; a first from Royal Enfield. The unit is mated to a six-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch and churns out 40bhp and 40Nm. The new Himalayan weighs 196kg and offers a large 17-litre fuel tank. That said, Royal Enfield has aimed at keeping the seat height accessible at 825mm but this can be increased or decreased significantly too.
The talking point, however, is the round TFT colour screen that is integrated with Google Maps to provide a large navigational view. This screen can be paired with a smartphone and offers analogue and digital themes to keep things fresh. You can also access calls, notifications and SMS.
Other than that, the Himalayan also gets ride-by-wire, switchable ABS and full-LED lighting as well. As for hardware, the motorcycle rides on 21/17-inch spoke wheels and is suspended from Showa USD forks up front and a monoshock at the rear while braking duties are handled by discs at both ends.
The pricing of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 will be announced towards the end of the month, bookings have already commenced on the brand’s official website. We can expect it to be priced around Rs 2.60 lakh, ex-showroom and be offered in three variants- Base, Pass and Summit and two themes- Adventure and Rally. It will compete against the KTM 390 Adventure in the country.
